Steering Gear Replacement and Fluid Service on Freightliner Cascadia
Steering gear was replaced along with the steering fluid tank, new fluid and filter were installed. The system was checked and there is no more play in the steering wheel.
The customer reported very poor truck handling and excessive play in the steering wheel. Upon inspection, the steering gear was found to be in poor condition and was replaced. The steering fluid tank was also replaced, new fluid and filter were installed. After service, the system was checked and the steering play was eliminated, resulting in greatly improved handling.
Reported Symptoms
Very poor truck handling, very large play in the steering wheel.
